Governor Holcomb Proclaims October Careers in Construction Month

INDIANAPOLIS (October 1, 2024) – The Indiana Builders Association (IBA), in partnership with the Indiana Construction Roundtable Foundation (ICRF), is honored that Governor Eric Holcomb has declared October to be “Careers in Construction Month” (CICM).

Careers in Construction Month is an annual initiative aimed at increasing awareness about the rewarding and diverse career opportunities available in the construction trades for students and adults alike.

The construction industry is one of the nation’s largest industries, employing more than five million individuals in the United States. There are projected to be an estimated 168,500 job openings in the industry each year over the next decade.

“The Indiana Builders Association appreciates the continued recognition of our industry’s essential role in advancing Indiana’s economy,” said IBA President Kenny Reinbrecht. “The construction industry offers meaningful, well-paying career paths, yet we face a workforce shortage. Through our partnership with the Indiana Construction Roundtable Foundation, we are working to attract students and adults to this growing field. It’s critical that we expand efforts to make young people aware of the lucrative and fulfilling opportunities that careers in construction provide.”

Throughout October, employers, schools, and industry organizations are encouraged to host job fairs, panel discussions, and community events to introduce students to the wide range of careers available in the construction industry.
