INDIANAPOLIS (October 31, 2024) – The U.S. Census Bureau has released its statewide building permit report for September 2024, indicating a steady rise in Indiana’s single-family home construction. According to the data, 1,782 permits were issued in September, a 14% increase from the 1,570 permits pulled in September 2023.
This number is down 11% from August 2024, when 2,013 permits were pulled. However, year-to-date, Indiana saw 15,520 single-family housing permits in 2024— a 20% increase compared to the first nine months of 2023, which saw 12,940 permits.
Indiana Builders Association CEO Rick Wajda commented on the trend, “Despite a slight month-to-month dip, the 20% increase in single-family construction in 2024 is a positive indicator for Indiana’s housing market.”
